DED to organize Disney Magic World at Mercato mall for DSS 2005

The Mercato Mall in Dubai will come alive with Disney Magic on Thursday July 14, 2005 as part of the Department of Economic Development's (DED) offering for Dubai Summer Surprises 2005.

Announcing the launch of Disney Magic World programme, officials at the DED confirmed that the programme would include two weeks of fun and excitement with Disney characters, movies and other entertainment activities for children.

"Disney has always been a great favourite with children of all ages and cultures as it represents a world of fairy tales, magic and fun where animal and cartoon characters come alive and interact with people," said Mohammed Hilal Al Muroushedi, Head of Dubai Shopping Malls Activities committee at DED. "The Disney Magic World, which is the highlight of DSS 2005, has already attracted much interest from children. We have lined up a series of activities that will enable young ones to enjoy themselves thoroughly," he added.

Visitors to Mercato Mall will have the chance every afternoon, to interact and take photos with seven Disney characters, who have been specially flown in from Disney land.

In addition, Mercato mall will be screening a series of Disney films over the two-week period, with three shows being screened everyday at minimal rates.

A four lane 18-metre monster car track has been set up in a 4 x 2 metre area where children can test their speed at auto racing against their friends. Highest scores reached will be noted every two hours and the winners will be invited to take part in a final competition, which will enable them to win mega prizes.

The Disney Magic World will also include an art and craft zone, a balloon zone, talent centre and sweet house. Activities include jumping high to procure gifts attached to floating balloons at the party centre, health checks for children and other fun filled activities like face painting and art competitions.
