ALBAWABA - The Security Media Cell of the Iraqi government said that a catastrophic explosion rocked Babylon, wounding eight troops and killing one member of the Hashd al-Shaabi militia.
The blast happened at Hashd al-Shaabi's station, the Kalso Base in northern Babylon. Eight soldiers, including members of the Iraqi army, were among the dead.
A special investigative committee made up of civil defence and other pertinent units was established after the explosion to determine what caused the explosion and the fire that spread to the base's surroundings.
Although there were initial rumours that an airstrike might have occurred, the coalition forces commanded by the United States have denied any participation in the incident. There were no fighters or unmanned aerial vehicles in the Babylon airspace prior to or during the explosion, according to the Air Defence Command's confirmation.
But Hashd al-Shaabi claimed that the US was carrying out an aggressive airstrike, citing the Kalso Base as the target of hits on the Shield, Seraya al-Jihad, and Nuhba Directorate.
Authorities are still looking into the incident and trying to figure out what happened, despite people making different stories.
