Jordan’s Arab Potash Company (APC) on Tuesday announced it will take legal action against the contractor and designer of one its dams, which collapsed on Tuesday, reported Jordan TV.
In an interview with News at 10, chairman of board Suleiman Hafez said that all parties involved in the failure of the dam will be sued, including insurance companies.
He said an ad hoc committee was investigating the incident, and measure will be taken on the basis of its report.
The JD27 million dam, constructed to contain Dead Sea water for the company's salt extraction operations, collapsed last March, the first time it was filled with water after construction was completed two months earlier, according to Jordan Times.
The Atta firm of Turkey, Gibb design company of Britain, the Middle East Insurance Company and the Yarmouk Insurance Company were all involved in the implementation of the dam, said the paper.
