A group of twelve journalists representing the print and broadcast media from the Czech Republic recently visited Dubai to gain first-hand experience about the destination, says a press release.

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) gave the visiting journalists a comprehensive briefing about the destination and its attractions.

DTCM manager missions Hamad bin Mejren said that "the department is participating in the Holiday World 2001 exhibition in Prague to target the Central European market, and the Czech Republic currently ranks among the world's top 30 outgoing tourism spenders according to the World Tourism Organization’s 2020 Tourism Vision Forecast.”

He noted that the Czech Republic offered promising potential for growth, saying that through such media missions, the department hoped to create significant awareness of Dubai in this market.

According to the DTCM statement, the familiarization trip jointly hosted by Planet Travel Tours and Cargo and Czech Airlines included representatives from CT TV, Prima TV, Impuls Radio, CRO (radio), MF DNES (daily) Pravo (daily), Blesk (daily), Super (daily) and Lidove Noviny (daily).

The combined circulation of the dailies exceeds two million while the TV and radio stations between them cater to the lion's share of the Czech audience.

Awareness of Dubai in the Czech Republic in recent weeks has been high, with a DTCM video winning the best video award at the 34th International Film Festival of Films and Video-spots on Tourism and 3rd Tourist Multimedia Festival that concluded in the republic – Albawaba.com
