Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kavan held talks Monday with Syrian officials on bolstering bilateral ties in the various fields, reported the official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA).
Kavan, who arrived earlier in the day, held talks with his Syrian counterpart, Farouq Shara, said KUNA, adding a protocol agreement on cooperation between the two countries’ foreign ministries was signed.
In addition to bilateral issues, the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.
“The two sides asserted that Israelis are [under the] illusion that power can be a useful means to achieve peace and a settlement,” a Syrian source told KUNA.
They also underlined the importance of implementing international legislative resolutions and the land-for-peace principle.
Before his departure, Kavan is expected to sign a long-term economic agreement with Syrian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Khaled Raad, said KUNA – Albawaba.com
