The Moroccan press issued another swath of accusations against Algeria concerning the Western Sahara conflict, following the fourth commission of the UN on political conflicts and decolonialization.
The Moroccan delegate at the UN, Mohamed Bennouna, is blaming Algeria for blocking a resolution to the Western Sahara conflict and claims this is hampering the formation of a united North African Block. The Algerian permanent delegate to the UN countered that "Morocco has lost all responsibility."
Meanwhile, the Moroccan foreign minister Mohamed Vall Ould Bellal is holding talks with Algerian officials in Algeria.
The Sahara issue has soured relations with the EU over reported human rights abuses in both Algeria and Morocco and increases regional tension and conflict. The King of Morocco, Mohammad VI has also blamed Algeria for dragging its feet especially over the issue of Algeria holding 412 Moroccan prisoners in reportedly harsh conditions, near Tindouf.
