The Moroccan Minister for Transportation Means, Karim Ghellab, and the Spanish Minister of Fomento (ministry of public works), Mrs. Magdalena Alvarez, jointly chaired on Monday a working meeting, held in Tangier. The meeting, which was conducted within the framework of the co-operation between the Governments of Morocco and Spain on the project for connecting Africa and Europe through the Straits of Gibraltar, was devoted to examine the progress made in the project, and mainly the major offshore drilling campaign currently held in the waters of the Straits.

Yabiladi reports that the project consists of an overall 38km railway tunnel, including 28 km dug under the sea, which will connect Malabata in Morocco and Paloma in Spain.
