Columbus Verlag Paul Oestergaard GmbH, one of the oldest German globe manufacturers in the world, will be offering a glimpse of its luxury globes at the Dubai Ideal Home Show 2006, according to organizers Messe Frankfurt.
The region’s leading event, which brings together a host of experts in various sectors from interior designing to property and the world of culinary for the benefit of home and property owners besides home lovers, is scheduled to be held from November 30th – December 3rd, 2006 at the Airport Expo Dubai.
“The presence of such a world-renowned firm that stands for quality products among several international majors along with design and culinary experts are reasons enough for every property or homeowner to look forward to the show,” said Mr. Christopher Hudson, Exhibitions Director of Messe Frankfurt. “With companies like Columbus Verlag offering a range of luxury products that could find place at homes, the event is a must-visit,” he added.
Established in 1909 in Berlin, Germany, the Columbus Verlag products, each precisely handcrafted, continue to be Europe’s top-selling line of luxury globes. The company manufactures globes from 26cm up to 200cm and its products are available in more than 20 languages including Arabic.
“At Columbus, we are passionate about quality and we guarantee that our products provide you complete satisfaction,” said Mr. Robin C. Benecke, Columbus Verlag. “We know that Columbus globe owners are passionate about life and appreciate superior products. Each Columbus manufacturing team member crafts the globe as if he or his neighbour were going to buy the product and every product bears a certificate with signature from the team which is a personal guarantee for quality by the maker,” he added.
For example the Globe by Columbus Verlag  – circa 1934 – is a fine art deco style 10” diameter German terrestrial table globe which stands 17" high, and shows Italian East Africa, and Persia, which would tend to date it to circa 1934.  The equatorial and median of Greenwich are graduated in degrees, the ocean showing currents and steamship routes.  The cartouche is signed, “Columbus, Volksglobus, BearBeittet Von C. Luther, Columbus-Verlag G.M.B.H., Berlin - Lichterfelde.”

There are various other models including the 40.118 Columbus Schlergiobus 3.5-inch Globe, c1939, and the Pair of Terrestrial & Celestial Globes available in 4-Inch and 8 inches high, 3.5 inch diameter base among others that would could be used at homes, universities and libraries.
“Columbus Verlag, which has sold more than 10 million globes since it was founded nearly 100 years ago, can supply globes to suit all requirements, every taste and every pocket,” said Mr. Mr. Robin C. Benecke, Columbus Verlag.
“This would be a great addition to the Dubai Ideal Home Show 2006 which has its focus on homes and home lovers and Columbus Verlag will bring a whole new dimension to the event. We are sure visitors would be keen to have such a product to adorn their studies,” said Mr. Hudson.
Besides such novel elements, the Dubai Ideal Home Show this year will have dedicated zones including Interior Design Zone, Garden and Ladscaping Zone, Furniture Zone, Kitchen to Table Zone, Home Technology Zone, Arts & Crafts Zone, Property Zone, Festive Zone, Room Sets and Feature Gardens, covering every aspect of a home to cater to different segments of the visitors.
Other prominent features at the show include two information sharing platforms – Jotun’s Inspiring Ideas Theatre and Taste Temptation Theatre. Leading interior design experts including Linda Barker Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen, Paul Bishop, Gordon Russell and Mary Gilliatt, landscape expert Grant Donald and leading Feng Shui consultant Georgia Kiafi will be appearing at the Jotun’s Inspiring Ideas Theatre while celebrity TV chefs like Osama El Sayed, Sanjeev Kapoor and Ainsley Harriott will be interacting with the visitors at the Taste Temptation Theatre.
The Ideal Home Show launched in 2005 to a fantastic reception from visitors and exhibitors. Presenting great products and entertaining celebrity presentations, it caught the imagination of the Dubai public and its media. The 2006 show is building upon this successful launch to firmly establish the Ideal Home as an annual consumer event of choice for Dubai’s residents and visitors.
