In a significant move to provide enhanced distribution facilities to its customers, CO-OP ISLAMI, the region’s leading producer and retailer of real halal products, announced that it would lease 27 new distribution trucks from Super price Rent A Car. The trucks will start operations through the CO-OP ISLAMI network during September 2005.
CO-OP ISLAMI’s three-year contract with Super price Rent A Car would enable it to use the vehicles for the period specified in the contract.
This initiative comes in line with the company’s stated policy to focus on knowledge-based investment as opposed to asset-based investment and is expected to further enhance CO-OP ISLAMI’s distribution performance and efficiency.
“As a progressive organisation at the forefront of the industry, CO-OP ISLAMI’s has always implemented initiatives in line with the development in the local, regional and international markets,” said Saleh Abdulla Lootah, Chief Executive Officer CO-OP ISLAMI. “We believe that investment is not limited to assets but also extends to the efficient use of information in a knowledge-based company. This initiative to leverage external resources would make our distribution procedures more with the high rate of economic growth in Dubai and the UAE,” he added.
CO-OP ISLAMI has ensured that the leased distribution trucks will meet the stringent safety measures and standards of the company. All the vehicles have state-of-the-art freezing facilities that will allow for the preservation of the taste and image of the food products. Moreover, they include mobile partitions and cooling systems (Thermoking) as per CO-OP ISLAMI specifications.
“We are proud to be one of the companies that invest in knowledge to manage its business and resources. The initiatives carried out by CO-OP ISLAMI will contribute to development of the company’s performance in catering to the needs of all its customers and will help the company sustain its continuous growth. In addition, it will enable us to benefit from huge opportunities that will be provided by the knowledge based economy in the country and the region.”
This step follows an agreement with UNIKAI, one of foremost distribution companies in the country last week, where CO-OP ISLAMI will leverage UNIKAI’s strong client relationship and distribution channels to reach out to new segments in the market.
