China President in Tunisia; urges Israel to implement Security Council resolutions

China’s President Jiang Zemin, currently visiting Tunisia has urged Israel to implement the Security Council resolutions at once and withdraw its troops from the occupied Palestinian areas as well as to lift the siege imposed on Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, KUNA reported. 

 

According to statements aired by the Tunisian news agency Wednesday night, the Chinese President restated Beijing’s condemnation of Israel's military bombardments of Palestinian territories and the imposing of economic sanctions as well as the siege of Yasser Arafat. 

 

Zemin expressed his country's deep concern towards the current grave military escalations in the Middle East. 

 

During his visit, the Chinese leader met with Tunisian President Zain el-Abedine ben Ali and other high-ranking officials. (Albawaba.com)
