US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs William Burns is expected to meet with officials from Libya while in London on Friday, the State Department said Wednesday.

The meeting will include officials from the US, the United Kingdom, and Libya to discuss the results of Libya's "positive steps...to eliminate all elements of its weapons of mass destruction programs and controlled classes of missiles," said State Department spokesman Richard Boucher.

Boucher added that this meeting would be followed soon after by a second American team which would visit Libya to help the country with its continued weapons dismantlement. (Albawaba.com)
