BurJuman, the region’s foremost luxury shopping destination, has announced a series of art sales from now until the end of October, including a silent auction, as part of its biggest-ever Safe and Sound campaign against breast cancer. All funds raised will go toward the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Emirates.
On Saturday, October 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, an ‘Artist Jam’ will be held in the Observatory, organized by Jam Jar. Viewers can witness professional artists producing works on the theme of ‘pink,’ the breast cancer campaign’s trademark color, then bid on their favorite pieces at a silent auction from the 28th of October through November 4th, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm in the Observatory. Interested parties write their bids on slips of paper provided, and the works go to the highest bidder.
In addition to the silent auctions, the work of two local artists will be on sale from from October 1st to 31st. Works by Param will be displayed opposite Rodeo Drive, and paintings by Souhail Madi can be seen opposite Dune.
Sabina Khandwani, Head of Marketing and PR at BurJuman, stated, “we feel that breast cancer cannot be fought by medicine alone. It requires creativity, spontaneity, and humanity to involve whole communities in the campaign, which are all embodied in art.”
Other Safe and Sound events include a fashion show on Thursday, October 26 at BurJuman and the Pink Walkathon on October 27.
