A British soldier was killed in an attack on an army base in southern Iraq, the British ministry of defense has said. According to the report, the soldier died as a result of fire on a base in the city of Basra on Monday.
The death brings the number of British troops killed in Iraq since the March 2003 US-led invasion to 121.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military on Tuesday announced the death of a soldier in a roadside bombing in northwest Baghdad. The incident occurred on Monday, the military said in a statement, bringing November's U.S. death toll to 19.
In Baghdad, Saddam Hussein urged Iraqis to forgive each other Tuesday. Saddam, speaking to the court in the afternoon session, cited references to the Prophet Muhammad and Jesus who had asked for forgiveness for those who opposed them.
"I call on all Iraqis, Arabs and Kurds, to forgive, reconcile and shake hands," Saddam said after challenging one witness' testimony.
