The Bangladesh government Sunday expressed its condolences to Syria over the death of President Hafez Assad.
"With the death of President Assad, Bangladesh lost a true friend and a great leader," Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed was quoted by the official BSS news agency as saying.
In a statement sent to Damascus she also paid tribute to the late Syrian president for his role in the ongoing peace process in the Middle East - (AFP)
