Bahrain's emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Issa al-Khalifa, reshuffled the government on Tuesday, bringing in five new faces, but leaving the key posts unchanged, the official Bahraini news agency (GNA) reported.

The foreign, defense, oil and interior portfolios remained in the same hands, while Nabil al-Hamer, chairman of the Al-Ayam press group, took over as information minister and Jassem al-Ghatam as education minister.

Some ministries were split into two, such as the oil and industry portfolio, while others were merged, said GNA.

The emir also appointed Majid Jawad Al-Jishi as an advisor at the prime Minister court, and Sheikh Abdulla Al Khalifa as the chief executive for the civil service bureau, GNA said.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammed bin Hamad Al Khalifa was assigned as a governor for Bahrain Monetary Agency – Albawaba.com
