Iraqi fighters fired at least 10 mortar rounds at a U.S. base on the outskirts of Baghdad International Airport on Wednesday, wounding 11 soldiers, two of them seriously.

Elsewhere, a car bomb exploded outside the headquarters of the provincial police force in Samawah, 230 kilometers south of Baghdad, police said. Two people were wounded in the explosion, a hospital official said, according to The AP.

Iraqi fighters also fired mortars late Tuesday at a U.S. base near Balad, 30 kilometers north of the capital, said Maj. Neal O'Brien. No casualties or damage were reported. (Albawaba.com)
