Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is expected to arrive in Amman on Sunday afternoon for a working visit, coming from Cairo where he held talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubark on the Palestinian crisis.
Arafat will meet with King Abdullah to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian lands and the results of the Jordanian monarch's visit to the US, reported the official Jordanian news agency, Petra.
The Palestinian leader accused Israel of launching a "deliberate escalation" against the Palestinians despite a truce plan concluded with Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, said AFP.
"It is regrettable to see there are Israeli military decisions which led to a deterioration of the situation," Arafat told reporters after arriving at Cairo airport from Gaza.
"Despite political contacts I had with Peres, there is a deliberate escalation from military leaders and certain political leaders," Arafat told reporters.
The Palestinian leader briefed Mubarak on the escalation and other developments following the truce plan agreed to last Wednesday. Eighteen Palestinians have been killed since then.
Last Wednesday, in a meeting at Gaza airport, Peres and Arafat agreed on a package of measures to stamp out violence and restore trust, almost a year to the day since the start of the Intifada – Albawaba.com
