Palestinian President Yasser Arafat will pay an official visit to France on May 23, said a Palestinian minister in Gaza on Sunday.
“[President] Arafat will ask France to put pressure on Israel until it stops its aggression against the Palestinian people,” said Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nabil Shaath, quoted by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Meanwhile, Shaath said that he would embark Thursday on a European tour that would take him to Germany, Switzerland and Ireland.
The Palestinian minister said he would “brief the officials of these three European countries on the Palestinian response to the Mitchell report and the Egyptian-Jordanian peace initiative.”
“The Palestinian Authority will intensify its diplomatic efforts in order to reach an international resolution to protect the Palestinian people,” he told reporters – Albawaba.com
