Palestinian president, Yasser Arafat, stressed Thursday the need to translate The Hague’s ruling into political actions on the ground.
After meeting Arab and foreign diplomats, in Ramallah, Arafat said that the international Court of Justice’s decision about the illegality of the Israeli wall should be implemented.
He also briefed the diplomats on the current situation in the Palestinian territories as well as the next Friday exceptional meeting of the UN General assembly.
Arafat appealed to the entire world to carry out the ICJ’s ruling , push the peace process forward and provide the Palestinian people with protection to stop Israel’s aggressions against Christian and Islamic shrines.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops late Thursday killed a Hamas member who had been holed up in a house in the West Bank city of Hebron. Malek Nasser a-Din was hiding in the five-story building in the Hawaz neighborhood of the city when he was shot dead.
Earlier, Israeli occupation troops wounded Thursday four Palestinians in Hebron and three others in Tulkarem, Palestinian medical sources said.
Medics at hebron Hospital, said that Samer, Hejazi and Jamal al-Atrash, together with Taher Taha, sustained severe fractions and bruises all over their bodies after being harshly clubbed and beaten by Israeli soldiers. Also in Hebron, Israeli forces arrested five Palestinians, witnesses said.
Witnesses told WAFA that Israeli soldiers broke into several villages in Hebron arae and arrested Haitham Awwad 20, Yasser Hrezat 37, Mohammed Abu Rajab, Awwad al-Jendy 42 and the 17-year-old lad Yosry Shalash, leading them all to an undisclosed location.
In Tulkarem, Israeli soldiers wounded three civilians after storming the city, medics said. Sources at Thabet Hospital in Tulkarem said that the 23-year-old Rafiq Damiry was shot in his shoulder, while two others sustained bruises and fractions due to severe beating by Israeli soldiers.
Four Palestinians were arrested in the West Bank city of al-Bireh, Palestinian security sources said. They affirmed that Israeli troops, at pre-dawn, stormed al-Jenan neighbourhood of the city, broke into several houses, arresting four civilians.
The sources added that the mean arrested are Mohammed Qur’an 24, Omar Hamyel, Eiad Shehadeh and Waheeb al-Harthy. (albawaba.com)
