No arrangements have been made to hold a meeting between Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and US Secretary of State Collin Powell, said Arafat’s aide Nabil Abu Rdeineh on Thursday.
“There are no arrangements for Arafat's meeting with any American official, especially Powell,” he told Voice of Palestine radio, cited by the official Kuwait news agency (KUNA).
The PLO's representative in Washington, Hassan Abdel Rahman, announced on Wednesday that Arafat and the secretary would meet in Europe within the next ten days, citing Paris as a possible venue.
US officials, cited by Haaretz newspaper on Thursday, also confirmed the report.
Arafat, currently on a two-day visit to Tunisia, will visit France late this month for talks with President Jacques Chirac – Albawaba.com
