The Amir of Qatar sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani will visit Cairo next Thursday as part of his tour to Russia, Turkey and Libya for talks with the Egyptian leadership on regional and international developments, an Egyptian diplomat Kuwait News Agency Monday.
Sheikh Hamad will hold talks with Egypt’s president Hosni Mubarak on the Israeli policies against the Palestinian people, as well as international efforts to restore peace in the middle east.
The diplomat told KUNA the talks would also tackle international anti-terror war and the latest developments in Afghanistan following the collapse of the Taliban regime.
The Amir of Qatar visited Egypt in October last year. The Gulf state is rotating chairman of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
Amir Meets Russian President
The Amir of Qatar, Shiekh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, attended a luncheon Tuesday in his honor, hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Qatar News Agency. Top Russian officials at the Federal and Ministers Councils joined the Qatari Ambassador to Russia and Russia’s Ambassador to Qatar in this event.
President Putin welcomed the Amir and the Qatari delegation stating that the this visit to Moscow would have an impact in developing and furthering relations between the countries in various fields. Shiekh Hamad, in return, thanked the Russian President for his invitation and warm welcome and reminded participants that Russian-Arab relations are deeply rooted in history, and based on mutual respect and interests.
The Amir expressed the potential for enhancing cooperation between Russia and Qatar and invited Putin to visit Qatar.
