President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria was the only Arab leader to attend Sunday's historic ceremony for Sudan peace agreement signing.
Sudanese First Vice President Ali Osman Taha and John Garang, leader of the rebel Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A), inked the deal, which is aimed at bringing peace and stability to southern Sudan. Other African leaders who attended the event were Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania and Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
