H.H Sheikh Diab bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Board The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) has signed today a contract with Injazat Data Systems awarding Injazat Data Systems a 10-year Information Technology (IT) outsourcing contract to manage all of ADWEA’s IT requirements.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in June 2005 that marked the start of this strategic partnership. Since June, ADWEA and Injazat joint teams have been working collaboratively to shape the service delivery model and prepare for the transfer of over 150 ADWEA Group IT staff to Injazat.
ADWEA's Board Chairman, Sheikh Diab bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressed satisfaction with the agreement. "This deal will further support the continuing success of ADWEA and our innovative approach to the application of IT to the business," Sheikh Diab said, adding that the important partnership will begin immediately.
“Today we are proud to announce the largest full service IT outsourcing deal to date in the region” said Mr. Ahmed Ali Al-Sayegh, Injazat Data Systems’ Chairman. “Our agreement will accelerate and reinforce the prominent business and IT leadership of ADWEA” said Mr. Al-Sayegh. He then added “By harnessing its shareholder, EDS’ worldwide experience of IT best practice, Injazat is committed supporting ADWEA’s efforts to streamline its business operations as well as to deliver leading edge information technology innovations.”
Under this agreement, Injazat, working with ADWEA through a governance structure, will assume full responsibility for all of the IT requirements of the ADWEA group of companies. Injazat will provide ADWEA with a fully integrated IT managed service, comprising IT infrastructure management, application management and new project management and delivery. Injazat will continue to work with ADWEA’s existing IT product and services suppliers, finding ways to harness local experience and apply global industry best practice. This deal is a landmark in the IT Services industry in the region and will redefine how businesses can realise improved value and benefit from existing and future IT investments.
Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) is the public utility organization, responsible for generation, supply and delivery of Water, Electricity and Sewage services in the emirate. It is wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi government. ADWEA is managed by a board of management chaired by H. H. Sheikh Diab Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
ADWEA determines all business relating to the formulation, development and implementation of the policy of the government in relation of the water and electricity sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including all matters relating to the privatization of the water and electricity sector.
The Abu Dhabi water and electricity sector supplies electricity and potable water to the population of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, one of seven emirates of the total population of the (UAE). ADWEA serves more than 1.4 million people (more than 39 per cent of the total population of the UAE) over an area of approximately 67,340 square kilometers (about 87 per cent of the total area of the UAE).
