Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and President of the University of Abu Dhabi Board of Trustees and Governors, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) recently hosted a dinner at the Beach Rotana Hotel & Towers, Abu Dhabi, to honor all the students, faculty, sponsors, press and organizations who made the “Tribute to the Father” campaign possible. Specially made gifts and official certificates were handed to those who contributed their efforts and monetary offerings towards the event.
“At ADU, we continually encourage our students to give back to society and to strengthen their relations with the community,” said His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman, ADU. “We are grateful to everyone who made this event possible, and we look forward to many more events that bring the students and the society together,” he concluded.
The Tribute initiative, which took place at the end of November, was organized by the student affairs group, Future Makers, in association with the UAE Red Crescent Society. Al Awael Group sponsored the event, and also donated a generous sum of AED4million towards the construction of the Future Makers mosque- an everlasting memorial tribute to Sheikh Zayed that will be built near ADU’s new campus in Khalifa City ‘A’.
“Tribute to the Father was held to commemorate the life work of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and to celebrate his achievements in developing the UAE and its people,” commented Fawaz Al Amri, Future Makers member.
ADU just recently initialed an agreement with the UAE-based Al Meraikhi General Contracting group for the construction of the institution’s new campus in Khalifa City ‘A’ at a signing ceremony held on December 13, 2005. The new campus building is set for completion in September 2006, in time for the Fall 2006 semester.
