Moroccan security officials announced recently that 17 men suspected of being part of a terrorist network with alleged ties to Al Qaeda were arrested on Sunday. Two of the men had reportedly been imprisoned in the past at the US military prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and freed by US authorities in August 2004.
Brahim Benchekroun and Muhammad Mazouz had reportedly been arrested on November 11, according to the AFP.
13 suicide bombers suspected of being part of the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group were behind attacks in 2003 in Casablanca that killed 45 people. The group is thought to have links to Al Qaeda.
