Kuwait deported an estimated 11,000 expatriates over the last four months for failing to legalize their status, according to a newspaper report.
The Kuwaiti government launched an "intensified campaign" in August to round up violators after the end of a 45-day grace period, Arab Times said in its Tuesday edition, quoting an interior ministry official.
"Inspection campaigns against residence violators in various areas was a success," said general Musaed al-Ghuwainem, assistant undersecretary for general security affairs.
Moreover, the crime rate since the beginning of the campaign has fallen 80 percent, Ghuwainem added. (Albawaba.com)
