Egyptian exports fell by 6 percent in January as a result of the unrest and curfews.
This was announced by Samiha Fawzi Ibrahim, the Egyptian Minister of Trade. According to her, the value of Egyptian exports for January 2011 amounted to LE7.7 billion (US$1.23 billion), down from LE8.2 billion pounds.
The minister said that the Egyptian authorities are making efforts to provide extra food supplies to ensure price stability in the market and to avoid any shortage.
Minister Fawzi said the government's policy of price stability depends on the supply and demand. Thus, in order to reduce the prices there should be an increase in supply.
