ALBAWABA - Moroccan migrant Abderrahim Fakir died after being forcibly pinned down by two Italian policemen during a restraint in the city of Bologna, reminding people of George Floyd, who also died in the same way in 2020.
Abderrahim Fakir, a 42-year-old from Morocco, passed away under police restraint in Bologna. His last words were "aiuto, aiuto, basta" [Help, help, that's enough] before he lost consciousness and died.
A video was shared on social media showing the Moroccan man being pinned to the ground by two police officers while surrounded by paramedics who did nothing while he was fighting for his last breath.
The story of Abderrahim Fakir triggered widespread anger and drew massive protests across Bologna as people called for justice and punishment for the two policemen who appeared in the footage.

Only after a moment or two do they and the ambulance workers check his vital signs, as seen in the video.
The police said they were called to the scene by residents, who were concerned by Fakir's erratic behaviour, adding that he was "having a psychiatric episode", according to Italian media reports
It is worth noting that Fakir moved to Italy when he was five, according to the media.
The death of Fakir reminded people of the story of George Floyd, who was killed in 2020 in Minneapolis, the U.S. Floyd's death triggered "Black Lives Matter" protests across the country and his last words, "I can't breathe," became a symbol of resistance.
