ALBAWABA - As fans of the post-apocalyptic genre shared their excitement after viewing the first trailer for Sony's '28 Years Later', Cillian Murphy went viral after being allegedly spotted as "infected" in the upcoming movie, sparking debate across social media platforms.
The Irish actor appeared from a field of yellow flowers all bruised up and dehydrated leaving fans quite concerned as they expected a similar main role to his performance in its nearly two-decade-old prequel, '28 Days Later".
One user on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote, "I thought he was alive? What the f**k???? That's upsetting if this true for fans of the first movie".

The post-apocalyptic horror/ thriller will also star other well-known actors and actresses including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer, and more. Danny Boyle will be making a comeback as director and is working hand in hand with writer Alex Garland, giving hope to fans of the franchise's previous prequels.
Fans further expressed their concern about Cillian Murphy's comeback since according to Deadline, the Irish actor is not listed as a major part of the sequel, but instead will be working as an executive producer on it.
28 Years Later will hit theaters on Jun. 20, 2025, and has "Time didn't heal anything" as its tagline.
