ALBAWABA - This fall season of anime had much to offer for fans of the medium with spectacular shows including Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, The Apothecary Diaries, Shangri-La Frontier, Spy x Family Season 2, and more. 

With this season nearly ending, Al Bawaba will list all fall anime coming back this winter in 2024. Shows like these are referred to as two-course anime where the first half starts airing, takes a short break, and then continues the next season.

1) Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

The best fantasy anime this season.

Frieren is objectively the best anime this season among fans and critics alike for its beautifully written storyline, loveable characters, and spectacular visuals by Studio Madhouse!

It tells the story of an elven mage called Frieren who has to face the sad truth of human mortality after restoring peace with her late party of heroes and losing them with time.

The mage takes an apprentice after generations pass to fulfill an old party member's wishes. They embark on an adventure to find out if Frieren can make peace with the nature of life and death.

2) The Apothecary Diaries

A Chinese tale about romance, mystery, and royalty!

The Apothecary Diaries is another spectacular anime that is based on a light novel by the same name. It offers everything expected from a top-tier Shojo from wholesome romance moments to dramatic events and stunning visuals.

The story follows Maomao who used to live peacefully with her apothecary father but things took a horrible turn as she was sold as a servant to the emperor’s palace. After imperials started falling ill, Maomao decided to step in to gain respect and find a cure. 

This catches the attention of Jinishi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Maomao finds herself making a name for herself solving mysteries around the area.

3) Shangri-La Frontier

An anime about a main character who likes finding "shitty games."

Crunchyroll describes the anime as: 

"Rakuro Hizutome only cares about one thing: beating crappy VR games. He devoted his entire life to these buggy games and could clear them all in his sleep. 

One day, he decides to challenge himself and play a popular god-tier game called Shangri-La Frontier. But he quickly learns just how difficult it is. Will his expert skills be enough to uncover its hidden secrets?"

4) Undead Unluck

A promising adaptation to Shonen Jump's Undead Unluck by David Production (Fire Force, Jojo).

After finishing reading her favorite manga, Fuuko Izumo feels ready to end her life because of her unfortunate condition that brings misfortune to anyone she touches including the death of her parents.

As she stands on top of a bridge with a train track underneath it to end her life, a man touches her by mistake causing him to fall and get run over by the train. She then finds out that his body is regenerating.

5) Ragna Crimson

A typical action-fantasy anime about dragons and hunters. 

It tells the story of a dragon hunter called Ragna who teams up with a mysterious Crimson to overthrow and destroy all dragon monarchs as their world is ruled by dragons from skies, seas, and land. The objective of the Crimson is mysterious but both them and Ragna share the same goal.

6) The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse

A once great anime that was ruined by production quality and studio changes. 

The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse is a spin-off from the original series that tells the story of Percival, a remote haven that sits high above the clouds. 

Despite loving the laidback life, he longs for a life full of adventures and traveling. In a horrible twist, a mysterious figure takes away everything from him leaving Percival on the road to finding the person responsible and meeting friends along the way.
