Red Sea film festival brings world to Jeddah

ALBAWABA - The Red Sea International Film Festival opened to a star-studded film attractions, with global movie stars assembling in the Saudi Red Sea resort of Jeddah.

The film festival, which kickstarted on Dec. 1 and will run until Dec. 10, displays more than 130 international movies that are being covered by local, regional and international newsprint, websites and social media.

Among the top  international stars present are Sharon Stone of Basic Instincts, Jackie Chan, Andie Garcia and Antonio Banderas. They joined regional big names like the Lebanese film director Nadine Labaki, and the Egyptian film icon Yousra, among several others. From India you have names like Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, and Hrithik Roshak. 

Besides movies, the film festival is seen as an across-the-board cultural event because of the diversity of topics it tackles, such as focuses new storytelling trends, as well as emerging talents from Saudi Arabia, the Arab world and the rest of the Global South.

The Red Sea Film Festival, which is held in cooperation with Vox Cinemas and the MBC group, presents featured films from 61 countries in 41 languages, representing a mellowing of cultures in a melting pot.
