A man suspected of committing a hit-and-run on a highway near the southern town of Kfar Roummane Wednesday was arrested, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The unidentified suspect ran over a Bengali man, S.Kh., and immediately drove away, the NNA reported. However, a third person followed the suspect until they arrived at a checkpoint near the city of Nabatieh, where that person informed security forces of what had happened. They proceeded to arrest the suspect, the NNA said.

Two ambulances, one from the Lebanese Red Cross and another belonging to the Nabatieh Municipality, arrived at the scene, and S.Kh. was taken to Nabih Berri Government Hospital in Nabatieh.
